Call for Photographers: In this series of articles, we showcase the best underwater photography of 3 to 5 guest photographers from photo and dive clubs.
The next theme in the Contributors' Picks series is 'Gems of the Sea'. This can include underwater species or scenes with gem colors such as ruby red, emerald green, sapphire blue, amethyst purple, amber gold, sparkly diamond, and shiny silver. Images can focus on one or several of these colors. To get an idea of the colors, see this link.
Please submit 3 to 4 images (unpublished only, online or in print) and 150 to 250 (max.) words of text, plus captions for each image (including location, species, specs: ISO, f/stop, speed; and camera gear used: brand/model of camera, lens, housing, strobes, etc.).
Images should be a selection of 4 different species, limiting wreck shots to only one, so that there are not too many similar images in the feature.
In your text for the story, please mention what gem colors or gem qualities each image highlights, how you got the shot and/or photo or postproduction techniques used. Text can also include the location, conditions, or interactions that happened. The Contributors' Picks series is primarily about the art of photography, so please speak from your own personal insights and experience as an artist and photographer when writing about each image selected for the specific theme. Please include your website to be placed at the end of the text.
Please include a list of links to any outside sources, books, references or online sources used for facts in the text, as well as a link to your online image gallery, which will be placed at the end of the text. Please include the name of your dive or photo club, or your state/country.
